CAPee Care:

It is recommended that you follow the guidelines provided by your professional organization or work setting to determine how best to clean your shield, aka your CAPee.  

Your CAPee has two parts; a plastic shield and a cap.  The nylon and cotton caps are removeable and washable in a regular washing machine (see instructions below).  

For situations where you wish to disinfectant but not remove your cap, the CAPee can be cleaned in the following manner:

Cleaning with a disinfectant wipe:

  • Obtain any World Health Organization or Health Canada recommended wipe
  • Using gloved hands, wipe the inside of the shield using the wipe.
  • Wipe the outside of the shield (including the nylon/vinyl coloured part)
  • Allow to dry according to manufacturer’s information.
  • Store in a clean container or bag
  • If the shield touched a surface during the cleaning process, wipe down the surface.
  • Remove gloves, perform hand hygiene (wash hands)

Additional Notes:

Some chemicals may leave a residue on the plastic.  The residue can be removed by washing with soap and water. Use a soft cloth to wipe and dry your shield.

Cotton & nylon caps can be removed and washed in a washing machine with warm water/detergent and dried on low or hung to dry.  

The CAPee Basic has a vinyl cap that is NOT removable.  You may clean the CAPee Basic with wipes or submerge in a detergent solution (instructions above).

 

Cleaning your CAPee with a detergent solution:

  • Submerge shield (with nylon cap attached if you wish) in warm, soapy water.
  • Wash surfaces with a soft sponge or cloth.
  • Rinse the shield with fresh water.
  • Gently dry with a soft towel (cotton or microfiber).  (if nylon cap was submerged allow time to dry completely.
  • Store in a clean container or bag.

Do not use household or window cleaners as they may affect the integrity of the plastic and material.

 

CAPee-Visor Care:

Your CAPee-Visor is made from a plastic shield and a nylon (or vinyl) piece of material.  Both parts can be cleaned in the same manner.

It is recommended that you follow the guidelines provided in your work setting to determine how best to clean your CAPee-Visor.  

For general purposes, your CAPee-Visor can be cleaned in the following manner:

Cleaning with a disinfectant wipe:

  • Obtain any World Health Organization or Health Canada recommended wipe
  • Using gloved hands, wipe the inside of the shield using the wipe.
  • Wipe the outside of the shield (including the nylon/vinyl coloured part)
